My name is Jesse, and I am currently the Assistant Director of Studies at an English language school in Perth. Over the past 11 years, I have been dedicated to teaching English in a professional capacity.
In 2010, I graduated from the University of Western Australia with a degree in English Literature and European Languages. Subsequently, I completed the Cambridge University English Language Teaching Award.
Since finishing my studies, I have held a continuous position at the English language school in Perth, where I serve as a Senior Teacher. My responsibilities include instructing students in General English, Business English, IELTS, as well as Academic and Conversation classes.
Throughout my teaching career, I have gained diverse experiences in various contexts and capacities. These include leading recreational camps for children and teenagers in Germany, working within the German school system, collaborating with multiple language schools across Europe, and providing private tutoring in Spain and Mexico.
Moreover, I have accumulated extensive expertise in online teaching, particularly since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having taught for over a decade and to a diverse range of individuals, I constantly adapt to my students' unique personalities, cultures, and needs, making my experience invaluable. I firmly believe that language learning is inherently distinct from other types of learning due to its innate human nature. To promote effective learning, students must feel relaxed, engaged, and enjoy a communicative experience where language is taught in context whenever possible.
As a language teacher, my strength lies in customizing my classes to meet my students' needs. Rather than merely following a textbook, I focus on forging genuine connections with students and fostering a meaningful learning experience.
In the language classroom, we have the exceptional opportunity to introduce any topic of interest and use it as a foundation for teaching grammar and vocabulary. Consequently, while learning English, we can also broaden our understanding of the world and engage in enriching communication with one another.
